Tax Relief to All Tennessee Residents: Key Details for Tax Preparer

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has announced that all individuals and businesses in Tennessee affected by severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes, and flooding beginning April 2, 2025, are eligible for disaster tax relief.


Extended Deadlines:


Affected taxpayers now have until November 3, 2025, to file various federal tax returns and make tax payments originally due between April 2 and November 3, 2025. ​


The IRS is offering relief to any area designated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). This means that individuals and households that reside or have a business in Tennessee’s 95 counties qualify for tax relief. The current list of eligible localities is always available on the Tax relief in disaster situations page on IRS.gov.


Applicable Filings and Payments:


  • Individual income tax returns​

  • Business tax returns​

  • Quarterly estimated tax payments​

  • Payroll and excise tax returns​

  • Tax-exempt organization filings​

  1. Identify Affected Clients: Review your client list to determine who resides or operates in Tennessee and may qualify for relief.​
